During the three weeks that followed my graduation day I worked 14 hours per week for the student position I held for the past three years. Unfortunately, as of June 8th the new fiscal year began and the college cut the funding for my position. So, this is the second week of my unemployment. It’s unfortuante I am no longer able to use the status of a student to describe myself. Now I’m part of the vast group of the unemployed. I have a few promising lead on jobs, but nothing substanial. Yet.
This brings me to what I am doing to occupy my time! Lots of job searching, reading, writing, walking, finding interesting things on the internet, looking for apartments for September, watching movies, watching bad reality television and exploring the metro area. I recently acquired my father’s collection of Ian Fleming’s James Bond books, so those will be read in the near future. Today I found a nice oscillating tower fan for my bedroom. We have central air in this house, but we are trying to get through the entire summer AC free. My roommates and I plan to have Sunday adventures exploring the area. We also declared Monday to be the day we go to the movie theater because one of the local theaters has 5 dollar movies during the week.
I went home at the end of May for a joint graduation party for my little brother and I, which was very nice. We had a lot of family and friends stop by and most of the food was consumed by day’s end! In theory I should be able to go home more often, but I also want to stay local during the job search. I am planning on getting home for the weekend of the Fourth.
I don’t have anything TOO exciting going on right now, but hopefully I will take the time to blog more during all the ample free time I possess.
